4th place – Jack Shepherdson’s Top 10 Classic Grand Touring Cars
Designed by Franco Scaglione, the Alfa Romeo B.A.T 7 is a design marvel of beauty with purpose. During the 50’s Alfa Romeo showed interest in researching automotive aerodynamics, this led to a partnership with Bertone to build three one-off concept cars, all with the task of developing the lowest possible drag coefficient.
B.A.T 7, the second Berlinetta Aerodynamica Tecnica developed a drag coefficient of only 0.19, a commendable effort to this day, let alone at the time. B.A.T 7 has since been restored, often appearing at car shows in Monterey with its siblings, B.A.T 5 and B.A.T 9.
