“The 2002 Turbo was launched at the 1973 Frankfurt Motor Show. This was BMW’s first turbocharged production carand the first turbocharged car since General Motors’ brief offerings in the early 1960s. It produced 127 kW (170 hp) at 5,800 rpm, with 240 N·m (180 lb·ft) of torque. The 2002 Turbo used the 2002 tii engine with a KKK turbocharger and a compression ratio of 6.9:1 in order to prevent engine knocking. Kugelfischer mechanical fuel injection was used, with a sliding throttle plate instead of the usual throttle butterfly. The 2002 Turbo was introduced just before the1973 oil crisis, therefore only 1,672 were built.” More: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_02_Series

“An original and especially beautiful 1974 BMW 2002 Turbo. This is the
legendary 2002 turbo with only 51.974 km from new. When introduced it
was a revolutionary development in the world of cars. Ultimate road
legal car and even the first production BMW with turbo, delivering a 170
PS. In its short production history January 1974- July 1975), only 1674
cars were ever produced. This 108th car came off the line on the 12th
February 1974 and delivered to Moorkens S.A. BMW dealer in Antwerp,
Belgium on the 15th February 1974. Being one of the early cars, it
features the ‘OBRUT’ reverse inscription on the front spoiler. This was
so that the driver of the car in front would be aware of the often very
quick approaching Turbo in the rear-view mirror. The German government
thought that this was too ostentatious and quickly intervened to forbid
it. Early cars also had the exhaust on the right-hand side. Later models
had a centrally placed exhaust. This is one of the few cars with a
sunroof. In the past, the car has been fully restored and mechanically
revised. Above all, this is a particularly well-preserved car. The
bodywork is straight with correct panel gaps. The underbody is original
and rust-free. Finished in her original colour scheme of ‘Chamonix’ with
black leather trim. A few years ago the trim was replaced, replicating
the original trim details. As such it is in wonderful condition. The
previous owner had the car for 11 years and always ensured more than
perfect maintenance. Thanks to the care lavished on this car, it still
works and handles flawlessly. The turbo whistles beautifully. A
well-documented history with many invoices and original service books,
owners’ manual in a document-holder is available. The toolkit is also
still present. The car has the original and thus matching numbers 2.0
turbo engine. As extra, it comes with the original 15-inch Alpina rims.
Wonderful! In short, this is a very special, original BMW 2002 Turbo in
top condition!” More details:
